Privacy Policy

1. Overview

FirstSeen is a web application that lets users select YouTube creators, write a comment in advance, and authorize FirstSeen to submit that user-written comment when a new upload is detected from the selected creator.

This Privacy Policy explains how FirstSeen accesses, uses, stores, retains, and shares information, including Google and YouTube user data.

3. Google and YouTube Account Access

FirstSeen uses Google OAuth and the YouTube Data API to provide its core user-facing functionality.

FirstSeen requests the Google OAuth permission commonly identified as the YouTube youtube.force-ssl scope. This permission is used so FirstSeen can perform authorized YouTube actions on behalf of the signed-in user, including submitting a comment that the user previously wrote and armed inside FirstSeen.

FirstSeen does not use this permission to independently generate, invent, or publish comments without the user first providing the comment text and choosing the creator to watch.

FirstSeen uses Google and YouTube access only for features that are visible to and requested by the user.

Google user data accessed through OAuth or Google APIs is used only as necessary to provide and support FirstSeen's user-facing functionality.

5. How Google User Data Is Stored

FirstSeen stores account and application data in databases and infrastructure used to operate the service.

OAuth credentials, including refresh tokens when provided by Google, may be stored so FirstSeen can maintain the user's authorized connection without requiring the user to sign in again every time FirstSeen checks for a qualifying upload.

Stored data may also include the user's email address, creator watch settings, preloaded comments, favorites, and comment delivery records.

FirstSeen limits stored Google user data to information reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

6. Sharing and Transfer of Google User Data

FirstSeen does not sell Google user data or personal information.

FirstSeen does not use Google user data for advertising, targeted advertising, or unrelated marketing purposes.

Information may be processed by infrastructure and service providers that are necessary to operate FirstSeen, such as hosting, database, email delivery, authentication, and Google/YouTube API services.

These providers receive information only as reasonably necessary to provide services used by FirstSeen.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal requests, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect the security and integrity of FirstSeen and its users.

7. Google API Services User Data Policy

FirstSeen's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google user data is used only to provide or improve user-facing features that are visible and relevant to the FirstSeen user.

8. Data Retention

FirstSeen retains account information and application data for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the user's account, provide requested functionality, maintain security, and troubleshoot technical issues.

Some technical or delivery records may be retained for reliability, fraud prevention, security, and troubleshooting purposes.

Authorization credentials are no longer used after the applicable Google authorization is revoked or the related connection is removed.

9. User Control and Revoking Google Access

Users may stop using FirstSeen at any time.

Users may revoke FirstSeen's access to their Google account through their Google Account permissions.

Revoking Google authorization may prevent FirstSeen from monitoring selected creators or submitting preloaded comments because the authorized YouTube connection will no longer be available.

10. Deleting Your Data

Users may request deletion of FirstSeen account information, saved creators, favorites, preloaded comments, stored authorization data, and other associated account information.

11. Security

FirstSeen uses reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect user information and authorization credentials from unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure.

However, no internet service or method of electronic storage can guarantee absolute security.

12. Children

FirstSeen is not intended to be a child-directed service. Users must satisfy any minimum age requirements that apply to their Google or YouTube account and their jurisdiction.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

FirstSeen may update this Privacy Policy when the service or its data practices change.

When material changes are made, the updated date shown at the top of this page will be changed.
